About the Role

Reporting to the PayrollManager- the Payroll Administrator is responsible for providing a highlevel of service to our clients by processing payrolls timely andaccurately. Ideally, you will have experience working within apractice or bureau. The role will be based at our Chesterfield office.Our payroll team work 3 days from the office and 2 days at home.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintain accuraterecords, ensuring client data is updated in real-time
* Prepare payrolls with high accuracy and to agreed timelines
* Prepare and submit all required returns to HMRC deadlines
* Comply with HMRC legislation, including implementation of changes totax codes etc
* Have a sound knowledge of all statutorypayments and eligibility criteria, including undertaking trainingwhere necessary
* Conduct a self-check of all prepared workprior to submission for audit
* Where applicable provide theadministration of client pension schemes, applying changes, producingreports and ensuring submission deadlines are met
* Developan extensive knowledge on differing pension schemes and currentregulations, including undertaking training where necessary
* Manage client expectations, including immediate notification where adeadline won’t be met, reasons why and an agreed solution, keeping thePayroll Manager updated
* Perform all year end activitieswithin the given deadlines, including the distribution of P60documents
* Demonstrate excellent organisational skillsincluding prioritising own workload to meet all deadlines
* Build and maintain strong and trusting relationships both internallyand with clients including regular meetings to discuss ways we canimprove our service
* Respond to internal queries fromcolleagues in other departments and external queries from eligiblethird parties e.g. HMRC
* Take ownership of client queries,responding thoroughly and in a timely manner
* Useappropriate methods of communication to uphold GDPR compliance
* Self-evaluate performance and training needs, bringing theseto the attention of the Payroll Manager for review
* Raiseall issues with the Payroll Manager in a timely manner to support aswift resolution
* Raise suggestions for improvements toclient service and notify the Payroll Manager upon identifying anypotential gaps in our process

Experience & Qualifications

* Minimum 2 yearsexperience in a similar role
* Ideally have worked inaccoutancy practice or bureau
* Ideally hold a CIPP

* Core hours policy (7.5 hours per day, working between08:00 and 18:00).
* The ability to take up to two hours forlunch.
* Overtime (we hardly work any!) to be taken back asTOIL.
* Holidays start at 25 days or pro-rata equivalent.
* Extra 1 day holiday after 5 years’ service and thereafter toa maximum extra 5 days.
