If you are an enthusiastic and motivated HCPC registered Clinical / Counselling Psychologist interested in working with adults with learning disabilities, we look forward to hearing from you. A full-time permanent Band 7 position has arisen in NELFT Learning Disabilities Psychological Services, based in the multi-disciplinary Redbridge Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT), which works in an integrated approach with our client group. The post holder will be supported by the Senior Psychologist, Principal Psychologist, and Professional Lead of the service.
Our well-established service comprises clinical psychologists, behaviour specialists, art therapists, systemic therapists, clinical associates in psychology (CAP), and trainees from the Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling training courses based in London. The post-holder will work closely with the local Talking Therapies service to support access to mainstream services for our clients. We focus on trauma-informed and culturally sensitive care for people with learning disabilities and their families.
We offer excellent opportunities for enhancing clinical skills through CPD, peer support, and service development, including Trust-wide forums, specialist systemic and EMDR supervision, and a vibrant R&D department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To provide a qualified, high-quality specialist Learning Disability Psychology service to individuals, carers, families, and groups within and across the Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT), supporting the Talking Therapies (TT) service in line with evidence-based practice and trust care pathways.
2. To manage a clinical caseload, conducting autonomous assessments, treatments, and discharges within the service's policies and professional standards.
3. To employ analytical and judgment skills, making clinical management decisions in complex cases.
4. To receive regular supervision from senior psychologists and other relevant professionals.
5. This post is subject to a probationary period, with internal applicants being exempt unless currently in a probation or bank staff.
6. All new starters will undergo a comprehensive induction including mandatory training, systems training, and equipment allocation, held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
7. This position attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary, with a minimum of £4,714 and a maximum of £5,941 per annum (pro-rata for part-time).
8. To undertake risk assessments and provide advice on psychological risk management.
9. To employ research skills for service evaluation and relevant research, disseminating findings appropriately.
10. To provide teaching, training, consultation, and supervision within the service.
11. To develop reasonable adjustments for access to TT and provide consultation to practitioners.
