Working hours: Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.
About the role
We are looking for a strong Accounts Assistant who can fulfil a fast-paced standalone bookkeeping role supporting the business with all aspects of finance support, covering sales and purchase ledger, payments and bank reconciliations and other financial administration duties.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to spin many plates and will have excellent attention to detail.
Duties
* Manage the purchase ledger function – posting purchase invoices onto the system, reviewing aged creditors to ensure all supplier accounts are clean and up to date.
* Manage the sales ledger function – raise daily sales invoices.
* Bank reconciliations – preparing and posting bank transactions.
* Allocating payments in and out, updating bank reconciliation logs and credit card reconciliations.
* Preparing and actioning payment runs along with posting, allocating & reconciling suppliers.
* Manage day-to-day transactions – entering and maintaining financial information on our software OrderWise.
* Update FX currency rates into Orderwise system – weekly.
* Keep materials, shipping and carriage journals up to date and generate reports as required for plastic packaging tax.
* Raising and completing purchase orders for back-office purchases.
* Ensure finance system is up to date for month end and year end.
* Filing of invoices, statements, and other accounts documentation.
* Maintain accounting control by following policies and procedures.
* Provide support with general adhoc administration (i.e., answering the mainline switchboard and fielding phone calls, order consumables, amongst other adhoc duties).
* Any other duties as reasonably requested.
Requirements
* Part Qualified – desirable (AAT / CIMA / ACCA)
* Previous experience using Orderwise Accounting Software – desirable
* Previous experience working as accounts assistant, bookkeeper or similar role
* Ability to work accurately under pressure
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills – with staff and clients/suppliers
* Flexible - willing to get stuck in and support tasks that may on occasion fall outside of the key job spec
* Proactive - anticipates needs in advance, will show initiative, drive and enthusiasm and possess a positive "can do" attitude
* Ability to deal with confidential information and be discreet at all times – must be trustworthy and honest
* Comfortable using Microsoft Office programs
