Job Summary
The purpose of this role is simple but vital: to support the delivery of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement. As part of our Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service, you will help us provide a safe, effective, confidential and compassionate service to Trust staff and external clients. You will carry out a defined range of clinical, health surveillance, screening and administrative duties under clinical supervision, working within Trust policies, professional standards and agreed competencies. This role requires excellent communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work sensitively with staff who may be anxious, unwell or distressed.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake pre‑employment, pre‑placement and ongoing health screening for a variety of job roles in line with Trust policy.
* Assist with health surveillance activities including vision screening, spirometry and audiometry.
* Perform venepuncture for pre‑placement and ongoing health monitoring once competency is achieved.
* Maintain accurate, confidential employee health records in accordance with Trust policy, professional standards and data protection legislation.
Essential Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in healthcare or equivalent qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
* Venepuncture qualification.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Desirable Qualifications
* Vaccination training.
* Health surveillance training.
Essential Experience and Knowledge
* Experience of working in a healthcare or clinical support role.
* Awareness of health and safety procedures.
* Knowledge of infection prevention and control principles.
* Ability to organise own workload and work flexibly.
* Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Basic IT skills, accurate data entry and record keeping skills.
* Professional, reliable and conscientious.
* Empathetic and approachable manner.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Hold a full UK driver’s licence and be confident to travel to external sites.
Desirable Experience and Skills
* Experience in an occupational health setting.
* Experience using electronic clinical record systems.
* Experience with OH databases OPAS G2.
* Experience supporting vaccination or screening programmes.
* Ability to support service audits and evaluations.
* Ability to reassure and support anxious clients.
* Interest in occupational health & wellbeing.
