Job Summary
An opportunity for a proactive and adaptable Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work fixed term within the newly established Emergency and Medical Therapy Team at RUH to provide clinical and leadership experience in the acute setting. The post focuses on the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) for rapid assessment and discharge of a diverse spectrum of patients, with over 60% of patients discharged the same day.
Main Duties
* Provide occupational therapy assessments and interventions to facilitate functional independence in relation to discharge for patients in the Emergency Department, Medical Assessment Unit and Specialty Medical wards.
* Support prevention of unnecessary admissions and promote discharge facilitation across the Trust.
* Manage own caseload, coordinate daily service delivery across the hospital, and allocate clinical capacity according to service demands.
* Contribute to medical therapy service development and support Band 7 staff with implementation of change.
* Work shifts 08:00‑19:00 Monday‑Friday and 08:00‑18:00 at weekends; specialty medical ward service 08:00‑16:00 weekdays and weekends.
* Cover weekends as part of the service.
Qualifications and Experience
* HCPC registration and degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* Band 5 experience and acute inpatient experience.
* Desirable: Band 6 experience, Emergency Department experience, Medical specialty experience, student experience, supervision experience, service development or audit experience.
