Design Engineer at CALLUM
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Full Time - 40 hours per week
Location: On Site - CALLUM HQ, Warwickshire
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role requires a high level of cross-disciplinary capability, with ownership for the successful delivery of components under your control.
You will integrate into the current engineering team and be responsible for the design and development of bespoke, innovative, and cost-effective solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, procurement, quality, and project management.

Role Description
* Design Engineer reporting to the engineering manager.
* You will be working within a tight-knit engineering team to create solutions to difficult problems.
* Package, design and develop a wide variety of components and systems, including Structures, Chassis, Powertrain, Exteriors and Interiors.
* Author specifications, technical documentation and reports.
* Assess, identify and apply appropriate technologies including ‘Off-The-Shelf’ components.
* Support junior members of the team in their professional development.
* Contribute to design reviews, providing constructive feedback, and implementing improvements.
* Monitor and feedback on progress and timing and ensure delivery against deadlines.
* You will be working on low volume/bespoke vehicles and products to tight time scales in a dynamic environment, with exposure to the full vehicle programme lifecycle.
* The role will involve working with customers and suppliers as well as being hands on with components, systems and vehicles.
* Opportunity to support non-automotive projects where required.
Experience and Skills
* Minimum of 5 years of experience working in Automotive or related Engineering discipline.
* Experience designing composite, plastic and metallic components using low and mid volume manufacturing methods is essential.
* Experience of designing visual quality composite panels, as well as substrates for trimming is desirable.
* Ability to assess and interpret technical specifications.
* A working knowledge/awareness of ECE and IVA regulations is desirable.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* An all-rounder attitude is required, with a holistic understanding across all major vehicle systems.
* Excellent time-management, with a well organised and methodical approach to planning and executing projects with minimal supervision.
* CATIA V5 experience required, as well as the ability to create 2D technical drawings and follow a structured part release process.
* Practical/hands-on experience with vehicle/system builds is desirable.
