Data Analyst – Business Intelligence & Insights
Are you passionate about turning complex data into meaningful insights that drive real business impact? An established Housing Association in the West Midlands is looking for a dynamic Data Analyst to join their growing Business Intelligence team. You’ll play a key role in transforming raw data into actionable intelligence, supporting data-led decision making, and shaping performance reporting across a purpose-driven organization. The company is starting their exciting 5-year strategy plan where data is one of the five pillars, so you will have the chance to significantly influence this area.
Please note this role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week in the West Midlands office. It is a 6-month FTC.
THE ROLE
The Data Analyst for Business Intelligence and Insights will be responsible for:
* Leading the full data analysis lifecycle—from requirements gathering and data modelling to building impactful dashboards and visualizations.
* Delivering innovative, high-quality reports and analytics to support strategic and operational decision-making.
* Developing and maintaining robust data models and reusable assets for consistency and scalability.
* Collaborating with teams across the organization to understand data needs, provide expert advice, and foster a culture of data curiosity.
* Defining and implementing technical approaches for BI reporting that are efficient, scalable, and user-friendly.
* Troubleshooting complex data quality issues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in data governance and reporting standards.
* Training colleagues to interpret dashboards and analytics tools effectively.
* Designing and maintaining business insights reports, including streamlining and improving existing outputs.
* Translating complex data into understandable visualizations using tools like Power BI and DAX.
* Supporting regulatory reporting through accurate data extraction and submissions.
* Applying statistical techniques (e.g., regression analysis) to identify trends and generate insights.
* Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including software providers and user groups, to stay current with best practices and emerging tools.
YOU
The ideal Data Analyst for Business Intelligence and Insights will have experience in:
* Strong technical skills in SQL, Excel, Power BI, DAX, and ideally Python or R.
* Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
* Deep understanding of databases, ETL frameworks, data models, and the Microsoft BI Stack.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data to non-technical audiences.
* A curious mindset, problem-solving skills, and confidence to challenge the status quo.
* Experience working with customer and/or asset data, and familiarity with performance frameworks in regulated sectors (e.g., social housing) is a plus.
* A methodical and analytical problem-solving approach.
* Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
* A collaborative, open mindset, committed to continuous learning and innovation.
* An understanding of data’s value in organizational improvement and transformation.
