About the Role At Fortis Games, we are looking for a Staff VFX Artist who can push the boundaries of real-time visual effects and elevate the craft across multiple projects. You will not only design and implement world-class VFX but also oversee multiple workflows, partner with senior cross-functional leaders, and guide strategy and process for how VFX shapes player experience. You’ll mentor and lead other VFX artists, contribute to studio-wide pipelines, and play a key role in defining how visual effects integrate into the creative and technical vision of our games.This is a role for an innovator and collaborator who thrives in solving complex problems, brings strong artistic and technical expertise, and can influence both the craft and broader product strategy. What You’ll Achieve Conceptualize and deliver complex, high-quality VFX (modeling, texturing, animating, lighting, shaders, particle systems, environmental effects, cinematics, etc.), ensuring stylistic consistency across multiple projects. Oversee and guide VFX workflows across teams, ensuring alignment with game direction, performance constraints, and cross-functional priorities. Partner with senior leaders in art, design, and engineering to integrate VFX into gameplay, narrative, and monetization strategies. Facilitate cross-functional communication, ensuring VFX supports gameplay clarity and player immersion while balancing technical performance across platforms. Develop new tools, pipelines, and processes to scale VFX production, drive efficiency, and enable cross-team collaboration. Mentor and lead VFX artists at multiple levels, providing feedback, setting goals, and turning strategy into actionable tasks. Drive innovation by exploring emerging trends, real-time rendering techniques, and AI-assisted workflows to push the boundaries of what’s possible in mobile and cross-platform VFX. Champion quality and optimization, ensuring VFX are performant and adaptable across multiple devices and hardware. Model leadership by influencing the wider art team and contributing to cross-functional projects with creativity, empathy, and impact. What You’ll Need to be Successful Expert proficiency in industry-standard tools (After Effects, Maya/3ds Max, Houdini, Unity/Unreal, shader creation). Strong artistic foundation and mastery of traditional art and animation principles. Deep technical knowledge of materials, shaders, scripting, and node-based workflows for real-time VFX. Proven experience in leading or overseeing VFX pipelines across multiple projects or large-scale titles. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to partner with senior leaders and influence product direction. Organizational excellence, including asset management systems and scalable process design. A passion for mentorship and leadership, guiding teams toward creative problem solving and process improvement. Drive to stay ahead of industry trends and explore cutting-edge technologies for real-time VFX. Passion for video games, with a deep understanding of how VFX shape player experience and storytelling.
