We are looking to employ a part time qualified Health Care Assistant to work within our busy and friendly GP surgery. The successful candidate will work within our clinical team made up of nurses and GPs.Pay will be dependant upon experience and can be discussed during the interview. There is some flexibility with the hours we are looking for 30 hours per week, 6 hours per day Monday to Friday to be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job
* NHS Health Checks
* ECG Recording
* Blood Pressure Readings
* Urinalysis
* Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed.
* Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the Practice Nurse.
* Ensure sharps bins are ready for collection.
* Restocking/arranging maintenance of equipment.
* Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms.
* Assisting the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
* Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
* Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
* Provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the practice.
* Home visiting housebound patients for reviews and blood tests if required.

* Long term condition management
* Assisting with specialist clinics for example Coil appointments and Minor surgery as required.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
TheHCA works within the organisation and supports the practice nursing andadministrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services.This role involves working as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team,delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patientpopulation.
Havingcompleted the Care Certificate or equivalent qualification, the HCA willdeliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventativecare, health promotion, long-term condition management and patient educationwhile also supporting the administrative team on an as-required basis.
TheHCA will work under the supervision of a registered clinician while developingcompetencies in community-based care. The role is at Support Worker Level andas described in NHS E Primary Careand General Practice Nursing Career and Core Capabilities Framework.
Following agreed clinical protocols inconjunction with the nursing team and referral to GPs as appropriate.
Consult with patients and their families toundertake assessments of patient need
Deliver and assist clinical staff in theprovision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion, long-termcondition management and patient education.
Provide clinical support to registered nurses andother healthcare professionals within the organisation
Deliver basic clinical care interventions undersupervision, supporting continuity of care and patient safety initiatives
Act asa chaperone as required
Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onwardtransportation
Ensureclinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the organisations IPC Policy
Work within national and local protocols wherethese exist
Beaware of your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation andadhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults andSafeguarding Children
Recognise the boundaries of their practice and knowwhen and to whom patients should be referred
Support in the delivery of enhanced services andother service requirements
Support the administrative team on anas-required basis
Undertakeall mandatory training and induction programmes
Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Attend a formal appraisal with their manager atleast every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set,progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can beagreed
