Rutherford is partnered with an elite global law firm recognised for its market-leading infrastructure and project finance capability. The firm is seeking a 1–6 PQE Infrastructure / Project Finance Solicitor to join its London team, advising on some of the most significant and technically complex infrastructure projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.
You’ll work with major infrastructure funds, sponsors, lenders, and investors on the development, financing, acquisition, and restructuring of large-scale assets across transport, energy, digital, utilities, and social infrastructure. The role offers exposure to sophisticated multi-source financings, cross-border mandates, and integrated work with top-tier colleagues across corporate, regulatory, finance, and energy teams.
Key responsibilities
* Advise on the structuring, development, and financing of greenfield and brownfield infrastructure projects across energy, transport, digital, water, and social infrastructure.
* Act for infrastructure funds, investors, and sponsors on acquisitions, disposals, and refinancing of operational infrastructure assets and portfolios.
* Structure and negotiate concession and public–private partnership (PPP) arrangements, including risk allocation and long-term commercial frameworks.
* Work on complex refinancing, restructuring, and recapitalisation of project debt across multiple jurisdictions.
* Execute multi-source financing structures involving commercial bank debt, private placements, ECA-backed financing, bonds, and hybrid instruments.
* Draft, review, and negotiate project finance documentation and interface with technical, commercial, and government stakeholders.
* Collaborate with cross-border teams to deliver seamless execution on international projects.
What you’ll bring
* 1–6 years’ PQE in infrastructure finance, project finance, or related energy/finance work, ideally gained at a leading international or City firm.
* Experience advising on project development, PPPs, acquisition financing of infrastructure assets, or multi-source international financings.
* Strong drafting and negotiation skills combined with a commercial, solutions-driven mindset.
* Ability to work effectively within a high-performing, collaborative team on complex cross-border mandates.
* Confidence engaging directly with sophisticated institutional clients and stakeholders.
Why join
You’ll join a truly global firm with one of the most respected project finance and infrastructure practices in the market. The team advises on landmark transactions across the full lifecycle of major assets and operates seamlessly with colleagues across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the U.S.
Associates benefit from first-rate training, hands-on partner exposure, high levels of responsibility, and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge financings at the centre of the global energy transition, digital infrastructure expansion, and long-term investment platforms.
