This post of Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Fellow in paediatric oncology is suitable for Haematology or Paediatric Oncology trainees wishing to gain further experience in BMT. It will be suitable for those wishing to pursue a career in Tertiary Paediatric Oncology, or Haematology.
Main duties of the job
The Unit has approximately 240 new malignant registrations per year, including children with
leukaemia, central nervous system and extra cranial tumours. Children are referred from south of
the Thames, Kent and the south coast, although for early phase studies patients are referred from all
around the UK via defined referral networks, with a third of patients recruited to paediatric early
phase studies coming from out of region. Every week there are outpatient clinics in haematooncology, solid tumours, neuro-oncology, stem cell transplantation (SCT), late effects, phase I/II
clinical trials and symptom care

* Eligible for registration with the GMC
* MB BS (or equivalent)
* MRCPCH or equivalent See accompanying note: “Equivalent Qualifications”
Clinical Experience
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Paediatric oncology or Haematology
* Overseas posts must be recognised training posts in country of origin as vetted by the Higher Specialist Training Office at the RCPCH – evidence to be submitted with application form.
* Overseas trainees need to have written references that their jobs are thus approved by the nationaltraining programme / college
* Transplant specific experience

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
