Responsibilities
* Provide clinical care and support for people with dysphagia, nutrition support and disordered eating.
* Participate in assigned projects, pathway development, student training and policy development.
* Work autonomously as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi‑disciplinary team.
* Receive regular supervision from the lead dietitian and support from specialist dietitians, with opportunities for further training.
* Discuss and agree base and home team, and be available for part‑time hours if suitable for the right candidate.
Qualifications
* BSc Nutrition & Dietetics degree (or equivalent).
* Registered with the Health Care Professions Council.
* Completion of a Clinical Supervisory Skills course for training student dietitians or equivalent supervising experience.
* Accredited BDA courses in a specialist area (e.g. Diabetes, Paediatrics) or equivalent.
* Car driver essential, or access to a car (unless a disability defined by the Equality Act 2010 prevents driving).
* Registered Dietitian with excellent communication and IT skills.
* Adherence to UK professional registration standards.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities.
* Member of the British Dietetic Association with significant post‑registration experience, some of which should be in a specialist area.
* Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary healthcare setting.
* Experience in audit and/or research.
* Experience delivering care to service users with dysphagia living in the community.
* Clear communication through written, verbal and non‑verbal modes.
* Good organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
* Evidence of behaviour change and motivational interviewing techniques to support dietetic intervention.
* Competence in using specialist equipment for anthropometric measurements (e.g. skinfold calipers).
* Commitment to reflection, continued professional development and appraisal systems.
* Ability to manage distressed patients, relatives/carers and staff.
* Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
* Skill in planning and coordinating treatment packages.
* Problem‑solving skills and applied knowledge in risk assessment and management.
* Broad knowledge of current evidence‑based best practice in learning disability, mental health and dietetics.
* Assertiveness when appropriate and the ability to use own initiative.
* Effective teamwork and flexibility.
* Self‑motivation and the ability to motivate others.
* Effective role modelling, demonstrating values and professional conduct.
* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
