Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, rotational shifts (6am–2pm, 8am–4pm, 2pm–10pm)

An established and expanding manufacturing business in St Leonards On Sea, East Sussex is seeking a Toolmaker to join their team.
This is a precision tool-making role, but for the right engineer there is also the opportunity to support the improvement of manufacturing processes and contribute to efficiency initiatives. You’ll work in a dynamic, hands‑on environment where accuracy, technical understanding, and collaboration are key.
The Toolmaker job Role
As a Toolmaker, you will:
* Carry out tool‑making, repair, and maintenance tasks.
* Produce work to pre‑determined specifications and tolerances.
* Interpret and apply technical drawings and documentation accurately.
* Support manufacturing process improvements where your skills and interest allow.
This Toolmaker role is ideal for
* A skilled Toolmaker who wants to be involved in manufacturing improvements.
* An engineer, apprentice qualified or graduate interested in process optimisation but who enjoys hands‑on tool‑making.
* Alternately the company is very happy to talk to tooling professionals who just want to positively contribute to tool‑making at the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Tool‑making, repair, and maintenance to support manufacturing operations.
* Deliver finished products to pre‑determined specifications and tolerances.
* Collaborate with production teams to support efficiency improvements.
* Analyse workflows and propose or implement small‑scale optimisations.
* Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and accuracy.
Skills & Experience required for this role
Essential
* Relevant engineering or manufacturing qualification such as an apprenticeship or above.
* Experience in toolmaking, machining, or hands‑on manufacturing of parts.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and work to tight tolerances.
* Commitment to safe working practices.
Desirable
* Experience with CAD/CAM or precision machining.
* Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles.
* Interest in supporting process improvement and efficiency initiatives.
* Previous exposure to high‑precision manufacturing operations.
* Hands‑on production, tooling for plastics or process engineering experience.
