The future is quantum. Oxford Ionics is at the forefront of pioneering quantum computing, delivering world-leading innovation to create the most powerful, accurate, and reliable quantum systems. Quantum computing offers a radically new way of building computers that harnesses the power of quantum physics to outperform conventional supercomputers exponentially. Using our unique trapped-ion technology, we are leading the race to unleash quantum computing's unparalleled potential. Hiring the right people is critical to making this happen.
What to expect:
We're looking for a People Partner who understands the value of creating a smooth employee experience to empower the team to do their best work and can factor the business needs into decision-making. In this role, you'll have an important responsibility of interacting with both managers and employees, running and improving People processes, championing a healthy team culture, and getting involved in projects that help scale our business. If you're organised, proactive, can think on your feet, and genuinely care about creating a great workplace, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be responsible for:
The People Partner will play a critical role in executing our people strategy and supporting the day-to-day operations of our People team. You’ll work closely with managers and employees to ensure smooth processes, foster a positive workplace culture, and contribute to initiatives that enhance employee engagement and development. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about creating a great place to work.
Key responsibilities:
People Strategy Implementation
* Support the execution of people programs and initiatives aligned with company goals (performance management, engagement surveys etc).
* Help managers and employees navigate HR processes, tools, and policies.
* Assist in the rollout of organisational changes and new initiatives.
Employee Experience
* Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies, benefits, and programs.
* Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless experience for employees.
* Contribute to initiatives that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Process Management
* Own and improve key HR processes, such as performance reviews, promotions, and compensation cycles.
* Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
* Identify areas to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
Data and Reporting
* Track and analyse people metrics (turnover, engagement, performance) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
* Prepare reports and presentations for leadership to inform decision-making.
Culture and Engagement
* Help organise team-building activities, events, and programs that foster a positive and inclusive culture.
* Support initiatives and contribute to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.
You’ll have experience in people or HR roles, ideally within innovative companies known for progressive people practices or a strong employee experience culture. You’ve likely worked in a team where you learned a lot and are now ready to take the next step, shaping and implementing processes from the ground up in a new environment.
You’re comfortable being hands-on while also thinking strategically. You thrive in roles where you can drive meaningful change without needing to be asked (we believe this means you have 4+ years of experience in the area, but we are happy to consider alternative applications).
A university degree is preferred, and familiarity with tools like HiBob, Slack and Docusign is a plus. Experience with learning and development initiatives is also desirable. You don’t need to have worked in quantum or deep tech before - what matters most is your mindset, adaptability, and drive to make things better.
Oxford Ionics is leading the way in quantum technology, and we need skilled, innovative individuals like you. We offer a range of benefits, including opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, business stock options, 30 days paid annual leave (plus bank holidays), flexible working, private medical and dental insurance for you and your family and much more. Join us and be part of the future of quantum computing.
