This service development post is intended to promote excellence in our diagnostic dermatopathology and diagnostic cytology service and provide best‑in‑class care for patients in our region and beyond. The appointee will support the existing team of consultant dermatopathologists, develop diagnostic expertise, and contribute to the department’s excellence among specialty trainees.
Main Duties
* Dermatopathology – Support the dermatology, plastic surgery and oculoplastic surgery services by diagnosing skin specimens from Bristol and neighbouring areas. Work with five specialist dermatopathologists to promote diagnostic excellence, support MDTs, Mohs surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsies.
* Diagnostic Cytology – Assist the diagnostic cytology team in reporting a wide range of specimen types from NBT and UHBW, providing resilience to the team.

Qualifications and Registration – Essential
* Full and specialist registration with the GMC (or eligible for registration within six months).
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent within six months of interview.
* Evidence of equivalence to UK CCT for non‑UK trained applicants.
* FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
Qualifications and Registration – Desirable
* Higher academic qualification (MD or PhD).
* Management qualification.
Training and Experience – Essential
* Knowledge of NHS healthcare system and cellular pathology service redesign.
* Sub‑specialty interest in dermatopathology.
* Experience in developing and providing training in specialist dermatopathology.
Training and Experience – Desirable
* Recent experience with UK hospital systems or equivalent.
Research, Teaching, Publications – Essential
* Commitment to teaching medical and dental undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Demonstrable research experience and published peer‑reviewed work.

* Published research and peer review publications.
* Experience teaching undergraduates and clinical trainees.
* Ability to teach effectively.
* Willingness to lead research activities.
