Location: Royal Preston Hospital, Town Preston. Contract: Permanent. Salary: £25,272 per annum (pro rata). Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time/part time), including days, nights, evenings, weekends, and 12‑hour shifts. Ref: 438‑PB3933‑A. Closing date: 10/06/2026.

We are looking for Theatre Support workers to join our amazing team at Royal Preston Hospital. Your role is essential to the smooth running of theatre services and maintaining high quality, clean, and safe patient care.
Key responsibilities
* Provide good quality personalised care throughout the peri‑operative journey in accordance with local and national standards.
* Assist in positioning patients before surgery and in the recovery area, ensuring protection of pressure areas and patient comfort.
* Handle and store patient specimens safely, complying with Trust policy.
* Maintain patient safety, adhering to health, safety, and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Proactively engage in the Trust safety agenda.
* Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and productive care environment, compliant with hygiene and cleanliness standards.
* Communicate and document information in a timely and appropriate manner.
Qualifications & Education
* Demonstrable numeracy and literacy skills in line with Level 1 / Grade D / Grade 3 or above.
* Basic general education.
* Level 2 QCF diploma in healthcare / NVQ Level 2.
* GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Grade 4‑9, or Functional Skills Level 2 numeracy and literacy.
* Basic IT skills.
* Care certificate / clinical skills certificate.
Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience of dealing with the public.
* Understanding of confidentiality.
* Previous experience of working in a health care or theatre setting.
* Basic understanding of infection control principles.
