The Specialty Medicine Directorate are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Support Medical Secretary to support the Respiratory service based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The post holder will be required to work within a team using their own initiative and demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this role will be to provide secretarial duties such as audio typing of medical correspondence, mail and filing duties, managing patient pathways and liaising with staff, patients, relatives/carers and external partners.
A good understanding of the principles of Referral to Treatment guidelines is also required and an empathetic approach to customer care, therefore an excellent telephone manner will need to be demonstrated.

Person specification
Qualifications
* RSA/OCR Level III or equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience.
* Good standard of education.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Medical Secretary qualification eg. AMSPAR, ECDL.
Experience
* Previous experience in a secretarial role within a health setting.
* Experience of working in a busy office environment.
* Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
* Previous NHS experience
* Knowledge of NHS/Health Board applications, i.e. WPAS
Aptitude and Abilities
* Excellent keyboard and audio typing skills
* Excellent communication and telephone skills.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Confidentiality and diplomacy.
* Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
