THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE
We are looking for a Relationship Director based in Leeds / Sheffield to manage and grow relationships with Mid Corporate Clients, many with private equity investment or complex requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading a portfolio of corporate clients and driving growth through acquisition, relationship management and retention in line with Santander’s strategic priorities.
* Developing tailored funding and lending solutions, collaborating with Credit Risk, Portfolio Management and Treasury.
* Acting as a trusted adviser, building long‑term relationships and enhancing Santander’s profile in the marketplace.
* Managing risk and ensuring compliance with credit policies, regulatory frameworks and financial‑crime standards while maintaining portfolio quality.
* Driving business development, proactively identifying new opportunities and supporting sustainable revenue growth.
* Providing coaching, performance management and mentoring to Relationship Managers.
* Championing digital adoption using Salesforce, nCino and other CRM platforms to improve onboarding, data integrity and client experience.
* Promoting Santander’s values and culture as an ambassador for the bank.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Professional Experience
* Proven experience managing corporate / commercial banking relationships with a track record of acquisition, development and retention. Essential
* First‑class service and strong relationship management skills with excellent communication. Essential
* Ability to structure, negotiate and execute complex lending or funding solutions, including preparing and presenting credit proposals. Essential
* In‑depth understanding of corporate banking products, credit risk management and financial analysis, ideally within a major UK or international bank. Essential
* Optimistic mindset, ability to inspire and embrace challenges, promoting Santander’s values. Essential
* Experience leading, mentoring or coaching Relationship Managers or similar professionals. Preferred
Education
* Degree‑level education in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting, or equivalent experience. Preferred
* Professional banking or finance qualification (e.g., Chartered Banker Diploma, ACIB, CFA, ACCA or working towards). Preferred
* Advanced credit and risk analysis training or certification. Preferred
* Ongoing commitment to professional development and regulatory awareness. Essential
Languages
* Fluent English (spoken and written) – Essential (Required)
* Additional European language skills (e.g., Spanish or Portuguese) – Preferred
Hard Skills
* Advanced credit and financial analysis – assess risk and structure complex lending solutions.
* Strong commercial acumen and understanding of corporate banking products and markets.
* Digital proficiency – confident use of Salesforce, nCino and Office 365.
