Position
Data Center Construction Manager. You will be part of a creative, diverse team solving fascinating problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry-leading in energy efficiency and cost-effective designs. You will work with partner teams such as Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support our customers. You will build electrical and mechanical systems on construction sites, acting as Amazon’s owner’s representative and driving cost, schedule, and quality while managing construction vendors and contractors.

This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
Responsibilities
* Provide construction project management and oversight of activities related to new builds or general capital projects, owning scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
* Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout/punch list phases.
* Negotiate with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
* Create construction project scope and issue requests for proposals.
* Perform financial analysis of construction efforts.
* Manage construction projects aimed at increasing data center resiliency.
* Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.
* Oversee construction document management, including submittal reviews, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
* Ensure construction project quality control and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
* Lead teams in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of equipment failures.
* Act as a leader within the group and across internal and external teams supporting the data center.

Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science OR 6+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
* 6+ years of experience managing large, complex construction projects involving mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
* 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders, QC, RFIs/submittals) related to construction and project execution.
* 6+ years of experience constructing electrical systems (including large-scale power distribution/gear) and mechanical systems (including cooling).
* Understanding of electrical engineering principles (switchgear, UPS, transformers, circuit breakers) and mechanical engineering principles for cooling systems.
* Experience related to design or construction of data centers/critical infrastructure or large-scale mechanical and electrical plants.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to use data to justify conclusions.
* Value engineering capability to reduce costs without compromising quality or reliability, through new designs, technology, or construction methods.
* Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings across disciplines.
* Ability to define data center system-level architecture, specify requirements, document designs, and maintain project documentation.
* Experience with large-scale technical operations or compute farms.
* Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
* Experience in controls and commissioning of large-scale projects; experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
* Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) are a plus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800/year in our highest geographic market.
