About the Role:

Job Summary

Serves as the direct scientific, compliance, technical, regulatory, training and safety related professional for all NGPG outpatient facilities with radiology modalities including X-ray, Ultrasound, C-Arm/Fluoroscopy, CT and Bone Density. Develop, plan and implement the overall outpatient radiology facility policies and procedures for NGPG and ensure department quality control and compliance adherence with all policies and procedures. Act as a subject matter expert and technical resource manager who monitors, inspects, and oversees all operations in radiology facilities with coordination with the clinic Practice Manager. Ensures that all NGPG outpatient radiology facilities/modalities are adequately prepared for inspections by physicist, radiologic safety entities and semi-annual internal NGPG safety audits. Perform clinic rounding for all outpatient radiology facilities to assist in maintaining compliance, scheduled or random inspection readiness, staff education and training, and awareness of any non-compliance issues or concerns that can be resolved prior to actual inspections. Provide education, training and educational materials/sessions to radiologic technologists on how to manage, repair, and use all radiology equipment and software. Provides direct performance and competency input on NGPG radiology staff annual performance evaluations in partnership with the Practice Manager or Administrative Director. Provides leadership and guidance to radiology personnel at all NGPG locations with radiologic modalities. Assist with the onboarding of practices joining NGPG that provide radiology services. Assist with the set-up of any new NGPG locations that provide radiology services. Manages the creation of standard work processes for NGPG radiology and monitors compliance with these processes. Able to perform all managerial, technical, safety, compliance and supervisory duties across a wide-range and broad geographical region with numerous clinics, staffed by a high volume of licensed and certified Radiology professionals. Position will require extensive travel to regional NGPG outpatient clinic locations across 13 northeast Georgia counties, no overnight travel

Minimum Job Qualifications


* Licensure or other certifications: RRT Certification
* Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree. In lieu of degree, can substitute 10 or more years of Radiology experience.

Essential Tasks And Responsibilities

* Responsible for Radiology compliance with external regulatory agencies and NGPG policies and procedures. Participates in candidate panel interview process for new radiology staff personnel. Provides feedback and recommendation to Practice Administrator and Administrative Director. Manages orientation of new employees working in the imaging environment. Conducts initial skill set, acts as a mentor, assigns appropriate mentor, meets and evaluates new hire and conducts retraining as needed. Meets with new hire RT during orientation. Conducts Retention meetings with all new hire imaging staff during the first year of employment. Responsible for compliance and accreditation for each clinic and modality. Maintains records of accreditation and quality control audits. Perform annual inspections for all NGPG outpatient radiology facilities to assist in maintaining compliance, scheduled or random inspection readiness, staff education and training, and awareness of any non-compliance issues or concerns that can be resolved prior to actual inspections. Able to perform all managerial, technical, safety, compliance and supervisory duties across a wide-range and broad geographical region with numerous clinics, staffed by a high volume of licensed and certified radiology professionals. Plans, provides, and maintains documentation of orientation of new employees according to NGHS standards. Works with new hire to create a training schedule. Performs annual competency checklist on all imaging employees according to NGPG requirements. Follows up weekly with new hire RT. Creates and modifies competency checklists each year. In conjunction with center imaging staff, performs radiation badge monitoring and lead apron safety checks. Orders Landauer Dosimetry Badges; makes changes as need on Landour accounts. Prints dosimeter reports for all NGPG Imaging locations, then sends to Radiation Safety Officer. Serves as a liaison between RSO and NGPG Radiology. Monitors and reports all lead Aprons and Shielding on a bi-annual basis to RSO. Conducts policy and procedure development related to imaging processes per Administrative Director direction or independently. Creates and updates regularly the Standard of Work for NGPG Radiology processes. Assists with EMR and PACS access and training. Create, update, and teach the 6 hour Radiation Safety Course mandated by the State of Georgia for "non-RT" employees to perform imaging exams. Establish and maintain a continuum for communication with all NGPG Radiography Staff by ongoing Radiology Committee Meetings. Maintains up-to-date files for all warranty information and manages all NGPG Radiology equipment warranty services including expirations, renewals, terminations, inspections, work orders and payment processing. Facilitates staff recognitions with celebrations for their good work and accomplishments (i.e. Rad Tech Week, Points and recognitions at huddle)
* Staff Growth and Productivity. Works in collaboration with the NGPG Director of Clinical Quality to provide for continuing education opportunities for imaging staff. Partners with outside vendors for appropriate continuing education units for staff. Directly oversee and manage outpatient radiology personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures, evaluating workflow, process and technique of complex radiology work performed, and handling procedural and technical radiologic / imaging problems. Serves as preceptor, coach and mentor to radiology staff. Serves as the point of contact and coordinator with multiple educational/training institutions for placement and rotation of radiology students/trainees within NGPG outpatient clinics. Manages all correspondence, compliance and access requests between NGPG and educational program/students. Effectively communicates any updates or new policies, procedures, or process as related to the Imaging work environment. Works collaboratively with the Administrative Director or Practice Administrator to determine best practice workflows and processes for the radiology environment. Performs research, follow-up and education on radiology related variances. Manages investigation on RL6 variance, conducts employee training if needed, reports back to NGPG Quality department.
* Promotes quality and safety Evaluates quality of care given by Imaging staff by direct observation and by patient/family/Physician/other department staff feedback. Coordinates with Vendor/Biomedical/Plant Operations departments regarding any safety concerns with Imaging equipment or physical space. Manages employee evaluation and training of any new radiology equipment, device, kits or process within NGPG. Creates check list criteria to track employee training and competency. Ensures staff function within and support the policies, mission, vision and values of NGPG and NGHS.
* Financial and accountability and cost effectiveness. Interviews, meets, provides feedback and gives vote on evaluation and financial assessment of any new imaging equipment, device or supplies utilized within NGPG. Designated contact for vendors either before, during, or after selection of new equipment. Responsible for service contracts, maintenance calls and the scheduling of preventative maintenance on all equipment. Requests and provides quotes for new equipment, equipment upgrades, and equipment trade-ins. Works directly with vendor to obtain best possible pricing on equipment. Serves as liaison between the CBO and NGPG Imaging staff to evaluate and assist with action plan formulation regarding any reimbursement issues.
* Interpersonal communication. Utilizes and role models' effective communication techniques to deliver timely information relative to quality of service, goals and vision. Appropriately addresses controversial issues that are in the organization's best interest. Coordinates with center managers and practice administrators to develop and implement customer satisfaction / quality improvement programs and corrective action plans for the offices regarding Imaging practices.

Area/Unit Specific Essential Tasks And Responsibilities

* Provides leadership in the NGPG Imaging environment. Serves as mentor and role model for Imaging staff. Serves as coordinator and chair of the NGPG Radiology Committee. Coordinates annual general Imaging staff meetings.
* Leadership visibility - will conduct (at a minimum) quarterly visits to each Imaging location. Assist with monitoring staff performance and provide feedback in a timely manner. Serves as liaison between NGPG Imaging site, Information Technology department and NGMC Radiology department. Places IT tickets for staff and Providers and provides follow up on any pending issues. Provides IT with modality/equipment information and assists (on-site) with new modality network set up (which includes working with the Radiant team and vendors to set up PACS communication lines). Assists with the resolution of customer/patient/staff conflicts, complaints and concerns. Assists Ambulatory and Radiant teams with EPIC build changes/additions
* Quality Control. Ensures NGPG Imaging staff are following all regulatory / compliance standards as set forth by NGPG and Radiology governing institutions such as ACR, the State of Georgia, etc. Provides education and action plans when necessary. Ensures continuing education for areas that present as reoccurring errors. Performs routine film quality audits on all Imaging staff and provide educational feedback to staff to ensure quality standards are met. Conducts film quality audits on 10% minimum of exam performed. Creates and provides the following: Quality Audit Forms monthly to each NGPG location; monthly QA audit reports; and monthly NGPG QA Report Card. Write, establish, and revise relevant Radiology Standard Operating Procedures and/or workflow instructions; create and maintain radiology manuals (general and protocol/study-specific) and other process or safety related documents; Creates and provides a NGPG Radiology Monthly Learning Corner.
