About the Role
As a Mechanical / Mechatronics Technician on perm nights, you will take ownership of maintenance activities with a focus on mechanical, electromechanical, and automated systems. You will ensure equipment reliability through preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, supporting both immediate operational goals and long-term asset development. Your work will directly contribute to a culture of zero unplanned downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership: Plan and manage mechanical and electromechanical maintenance work, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues on complex automated machinery, including rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechatronic assemblies. Provide guidance to operational colleagues to improve system reliability.
Performance Management: Monitor and own maintenance KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
System Oversight: Use CMMS/SAP to plan, execute, and document maintenance tasks with accuracy and clarity.
Contractor Coordination: Supervise external contractors, ensuring work meets high-quality and safety standards, including commissioning support.
Team Development: Mentor junior technicians, fostering technical skill growth and cross-functional capability.
Workshop Excellence: Maintain high workshop standards, including tool control, health & safety compliance, and permit management.
Candidate Profile
Completed a recognized mechanical or mechatronics engineering apprenticeship (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
Proven experience in mechanical and electromechanical maintenance in manufacturing, processing, or heavy industry environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience on automated systems, robotics, and large rotating machinery.
Competent in planning, problem-solving, and mentoring, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Experience using SAP or similar CMMS systems to plan and execute maintenance tasks.
