Job summary

We are excited to advertise a part time (30 hours) band 7 Clinical Specialist post in the Northallerton Getting more help Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team.

This post is within the friendly Northallerton CAMHS team, we are a small team of professionals who offer support to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership for the team, and work in partnership with the local and wider clinical and operational leadership teams across the care group.

Northallerton CAMHS is a small team covering the Hambleton and Richmondshire area. We offer ADHD assessment and intervention in addition to generic mental health assessment and intervention.

We are looking for someone with a Professional registration which would include one of the following - Nursing, Occupational therapy or Social worker. Ideally with at least 2 years band 6 or similar experience.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

Main duties of the job

1. Be passionate about improving the mental health services and ensuring young people and their families are directed to and access the most suitable services for their needs.
2. Be passionate about continuing to improve CAMHS services
3. Be a driven, enthusiastic and forward thinking leader.
4. Have extensive experience working in CAMHS services.
5. Have significant experience of working with clinicians to achieve service improvement.
6. Have a range of experience of leading projects or other clinically based initiatives which will have made a contribution to delivering innovative and high quality services to children and young people.
7. Hold a relevant Professional Registration
8. NMP qualification would be advantageous

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

9. Registration with relevant professional body. (. NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England)
10. For nursing professions - Recognised Practice Supervisor and /or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent and
11. Trained in providing clinical supervision
12. For other professions - evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice in clinical supervision of other staff and/or students/ trainees.
13. All professions - Postgraduate diploma (or above) in a subject relevant to the area of practice or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years.
14. Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised advanced clinical qualification or Masters level credits ., Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP. dysphagia, posture, autism assessment, rebound, social prescribing, sensory processing, Approved Mental Health Professional, Practice Educator (level 3 Independent Prescriber) * Note any other advanced qualification/masters credits not listed here as an example, must be clearly evidenced and listed as "advanced qualification or masters credits" - within the individuals application form
15. And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
16. Substantial clinical experience of working in relevant specialist area in collaboration with service users, families and relevant others or transferable experience of similar settings and willing to gain knowledge within first 12 months
17. Experience of assessing and managing risk (harm to self, others and safeguarding)
18. Substantial experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
19. Involvement in quality improvement activities

Knowledge

Essential

20. Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
21. Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
22. Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
23. Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
24. Clinical Governance and its application in practice
25. Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
26. Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)

27. Evidence of partnership working with other agencies
28. Ability to travel independently in accordance with Trust policies and service need
29. This role requires a relevant DBS
