Job Overview:
We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Yard Operative to join our busy builders merchants team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the yard, ensuring materials are handled safely, customers are served efficiently, and stock is well organised.
Key Responsibilities:
* Loading and unloading building materials using a forklift
* Serving trade and retail customers in the yard
* Picking and preparing orders accurately
* Organising and maintaining stock levels and yard layout
* Carrying out regular stock checks
* Ensuring the yard is clean, safe, and well presented at all times
* Following all health and safety procedures
Requirements:
1. Valid forklift licence (Counterbalance essential; other licences advantageous)
2. Previous experience in a similar yard, warehouse, or builders merchants environment preferred
3. Good knowledge of building materials (desirable but not essential)
