Job Description:
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established MDT Co-ordinator team within Cancer Services at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
We are a busy department with a strong record of high performance in both national and local cancer targets and this continued level of performance is a priority for the Trust. As an MDT-coordinator the successful candidate would contribute directly to the organisations' cancer performance and support the faster diagnosis and treatment of cancer in Harrogate.
We welcome all applicants both internal and external to the Trust.
** Please note this role could be closed early if sufficient applications are received
Main duties of the job
An understanding of the cancer waiting times standards and the associated targets is required. You must have excellent IT, communication and interpersonal skills. Keen attention to detail is vital and you must have the ability to prioritise and organise work with minimum assistance. You will be someone who is willing to go the extra mile to deliver the best outcome for our patients. You will be a team player who is able to work autonomously when required.
We would expect the successful candidate to have a strong grasp on information governance and an affinity to working under pressure and to tight timescales. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your skills and experience in a non-clinical role where individual personal development is actively supported.
In this unique and interesting administrative role, you will virtually navigate patients (there is no direct patient contact) through their pathway from point of referral to treatment in accordance with agreed pathway steps and timescales, proactively identifying and resolving delays at all stages. You'll be required to prepare and facilitate the MDT meetings as well as the collection of data for diagnosed and suspected cancer patients, ensuring accurate recording on the Somerset Cancer Register database.
Working for our organisation
This is an exciting time to join the Trust, which is rated one of HSJ’s Top 100 Places to Work!
HDFT is one of the highest performing NHS Trusts in the UK. The successful candidate will work within Cancer Services at HDFT which has recently been ranked top in the country for cancer patient experience (scored 9.2 / 10 on the 2021 National Cancer Patient Experience Survey) and won an Excellence in Healthcare Award for its ground breaking exercise referral service, Active Against Cancer.
The successful candidate will be based at Harrogate District Hospital. Harrogate itself is a small Spa town, situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is located within close proximity to Leeds and York. There is a high standard of residential accommodation and a wide range of local schools, which have an excellent national reputation in both the state and private sectors. There are numerous sporting, recreational and cultural activities available in the town or the surrounding area to suit most interests.
