Part Time Yard & Workshop Operative Role in Rudgwick AVS Rudgwick is seeking a proactive and reliable Yard/Workshop Operative to join our friendly team on a part-time basis. This position plays a vital role in ensuring efficient yard and workshop operations, supporting the upkeep and movement of stock, and delivering outstanding customer service within our branch. Location : AVS Fencing Supplies, Rudgwick, West Sussex, RH12 3DH Working Hours This is a part-time position. Typical working hours will be discussed at interview, but a degree of flexibility is offered around business needs and candidate preference. We are looking for someone to work 3 days per week. £12.52 per hour, working 22.5 hours per week = £14,648 annual salary. Main Responsibilities – Yard, Workshop & Customer Service Focus Assisting with the loading and unloading of goods in the yard and workshop areas, ensuring safe handling at all times. Organising, moving and replenishing building materials, timber, and fencing products as needed. Picking and preparing customer orders accurately for collection and delivery, maintaining attention to detail. Ensuring the yard and workshop remain tidy, safe, and well organised, reporting any hazards or maintenance needs promptly. Providing courteous, helpful service to customers and delivery drivers when on site. Following all site health and safety policies and procedures without exception. Supporting the broader team with a flexible, can-do attitude when required. Skills, Experience & Requirements – Yard/Workshop Operative Essentials Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or workshop environment is advantageous but not essential – full training will be provided. Positive, reliable, and proactive approach to completing tasks and supporting team members. Excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to delivering quality customer service. Ability to perform physically active work, including regular lifting and moving of materials (in line with health and safety regulations). Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately. Willingness to undertake any required training (e.g. forklift licence or manual handling).
