Project Support Officer needed!!
* Salary: Between £16 - £18 per hour
* Location: Kilworthy Park, PL19
* Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
* Till September 2025 with the possibility of extension
Job Purpose:
To actively contribute to the effective management of a broad portfolio of council owned property and property that is managed on behalf of private landlords. To be responsible for all aspects of property management including handling enquiries, conducting viewings and inspections, processing applications for ready to let properties, preparing documentation and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. The aim is to secure suitable tenants for properties while providing excellent customer service to both landlords and tenants. The role will also require good levels of administrative and recording skills to ensure support is effective and well documented.
The role will predominantly be based in West Devon (Tavistock and surrounding areas) but travel to South Hams may be required.
Role Profile:
* Work as part of a multi-skilled case management and administration team to deliver a range of property management related processes efficiently and effectively, providing a fast, high quality and continuously improving service for customers
* Managing and responding to tenant and landlord queries via phone, email and in person
* Arranging and conducting frequent property inspections to ensure properties are being well maintained
* Handling check-in and check-out processes including inventories
* Maintaining accurate records of databases of properties and lettings
* Collect and manage rental payments
* Coordinate property maintenance and repairs, liaising with internal and external contractors
* Handle tenant inquiries, complaints, and requests in a timely and professional manner
* Issue warnings and pursue evictions where required
* Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required
Essential Desirable
* Experience in a lettings or property management role
* Strong understanding of the residential lettings process and relevant legislation
* A good knowledge of support work practices Experience of working for a Local Authority
* A basic understanding of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended)
* A good understanding of the Equalities legislation, policy and procedures
