IT Technical Warehouse Operations Support Manager
Great Bear (Part of the Culina Group) provides distribution services to FMCG clients. We support e‑fulfilment operations for a well‑known brand, handling the movement of customer‑specific products such as beers, wines and spirits within a fast‑paced warehouse environment.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hour week
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Technical Operations Support staff to ensure smooth day‑to‑day functioning of the technical function in the warehouse.
- Act as primary liaison between Technical IT support teams and warehouse operations, troubleshooting WMS issues, barcode scanner failures and network dropouts.
- Maintain critical inventory and oversee the maintenance and operation of automated equipment, conveyors and machinery.
- Manage and escialate hardware and software incidents.
- Ensure all relevant equipment remains compliant and fit for purpose.
- Work closely with third‑party suppliers, contractors and liaise with Customer Ops Excellence teams.
- Assist the Picking and Packing Team by providing engineering solutions to increase operational capacity.
- Monitor all machines and ancillary plant to drive efficiency and reliability.
- Carry out planned maintenance, inspections and complete repairs with minimal disruption to the operational schedules.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve performance and recommend equipment changes to meet current and future operational requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar IT or technical role within a logistics or manufacturing background.
- Demonstrable track record managing high‑volume, high‑service‑driven warehouse operations.
- Experience with automated or mechanical sortation.
- Mechanical background.
- Strong technical skills and IT proficiency.
- Experience with continuous improvement programs such as Kaizen, Six Sigma or Lean.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to converse at all levels.
- Highly confident and proactive, able to represent the company and customers.
- Experience in a warehouse/logistics environment, including manual pack‑bench e‑commerce operation, is preferential (full training will be provided for a successful appointment).
