Overview
The Post holder is responsible for working in a clinical area or technical (workshop) to carry out scheduled/preventative maintenance, servicing, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing on medical devices. The post holder is expected to have the ability and knowledge to work on high, medium and low risk medical devices and to work independently. The post will support the repair, maintenance and preventative maintenance of medical equipment in accordance with the medical device management guidance 2015. The post holder must be able to communicate effectively using good negotiation skills to clinical, technical and OEM support staff. The ability to identify faults should underpin a cost-effective solution to a wide range of medical equipment repairs with high standards of safety and accountability. The post holder should have the ability and knowledge to disseminate complex solutions and apply their knowledge to other staff.
In support of this, the post holder will adhere to any training guidance as identified in the PDR (personal development review) and TNA (training needs analysis) supporting the pathway expected of a senior level expert in this field.
Responsibilities
* Carry out scheduled/planned preventative maintenance, servicing, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing on medical devices.
* Work on high, medium and low risk medical devices and operate independently.
* Support the repair, maintenance and preventative maintenance of medical equipment in line with medical device management guidance.
* Communicate effectively with clinical, technical and OEM support staff; identify faults and provide cost-effective repair solutions while upholding safety and accountability standards.
* Disseminate complex solutions and apply knowledge to other staff when appropriate.
* Adhere to training guidance identified in PDR and TNA to support a senior level expert pathway.
* Work indirectly with patients as part of the role.
Work Environment & Organisation
The department's opening hours are currently Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:30, excluding weekends and bank holidays.
The post will join the EBME Department in day-to-day maintenance of medical equipment at the Hospital and centres where Croydon University Hospital provides care; the post holder will deliver a high standard of work relating to EBME across multiple sites. The aim is to provide an efficient and safe service to patients and stakeholders, and offer excellent customer care to patients, their families and colleagues across Croydon.
