We are looking for Rehabilitation Assistants to join the Critical Care Rehab team at LTHT for a 12-month secondment. The team covers both LGI and St James University Hospital.

We are seeking experienced, dynamic, motivated, and compassionate individuals who can ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality patient-centred care to patients in our critical care units and on the ward. Successful candidates will work clinically within the multidisciplinary team, maintain high standards of practice, and deliver outstanding care.

Main duties of the job

If shortlisted, you will be invited for an interview in September 2025.

The jobholder will provide direct and indirect compassionate care for patients, supporting the multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of a registered practitioner. Responsibilities include implementing and evaluating care, planning, delivering, and maintaining high standards of patient care, and taking appropriate actions to achieve planned outcomes.

The role also involves contributing to a safe environment for effective care and practicing in accordance with Trust policies, guidelines, standards, statutory requirements, and within defined competency boundaries.

Adult Critical Care comprises 5 units across Leeds General Infirmary and St James Hospital, providing specialized critical care and rehabilitation services. Job responsibilities

Job Title: Senior Clinical Support Worker

Reports to: Senior Sister, Charge Nurse, or Team Leader

Purpose/Summary

The role involves providing compassionate patient care, supporting the multidisciplinary team, and undertaking delegated clinical duties under supervision. The job includes planning, implementing, evaluating care, and maintaining high standards, with the ability to act independently to achieve outcomes.

The role also involves leading a team of clinical support workers and operating within Trust policies and competency boundaries.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Communication and Working Relationships

* Establish effective communication with patients, families, carers, and team members.
* Assist with patient reception and demonstrate communication skills with patients with communication difficulties.
* Maintain clear documentation and ensure confidentiality.
* Communicate effectively with all care providers and escalate concerns appropriately.

Clinical Responsibilities

* Provide high-standard compassionate care, undertake clinical activities, and assist in care planning and evaluation.
* Record interventions accurately and assist with patient hygiene, mobility, and monitoring.
* Utilize early warning scores and participate in clinical procedures and specimen handling.
* Support patient and family needs, including spiritual and emotional support.

Other Responsibilities

* Participate in quality improvement, infection control, and record maintenance.
* Ensure confidentiality, promote diversity, and participate in training and appraisal.

Leadership

* Lead a team of support workers on shifts and contribute to mentorship and appraisal.

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience in healthcare delivering personal and clinical care.
* Organizational skills, basic IT skills, caring, motivated, reliable, and interpersonal skills.


Qualifications

* NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
* Care Certificate or willing to attain within 3 months.
* Commitment to ongoing training.
* Occupational health clearance, including blood-borne viruses.
* Ability to travel between Trust sites and patient homes.
* Maths and English Level 2 (or GCSE A*-C equivalent).


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This role requires a DBS check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.
