Healthcare Support Worker - Simpson Ward

Simpson Ward is recruiting a Healthcare Support Worker to join a friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high standards of compassionate, individualised care for older adults and end‑of‑life patients.
The ward has 28 beds and receives admissions from the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit, providing specialised care for the older person.
Main duties
* Deliver high standards of patient care in an elderly care setting.
* Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members at all professional levels.
* Work independently, prioritise workload and support others in a rotating schedule that includes days, nights and weekends.
* Safeguard patient privacy, dignity and well‑being at all times.
Requirements
* Previous experience in caring for older adults or demonstrable caring nature.
* Basic computer/keyboard skills and good interpersonal communication.
* Good organisational and prioritisation ability.
* Knowledge of safeguarding (children & adults), domestic abuse and mental health issues.
* Ability to manage stress and willingness to undertake new skills and training.
* Flexible, adaptable, reliable, punctual and with healthcare competencies appropriate to the area of work.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
* Care certificate.
* English & mathematics at GCSE grade A‑C (9‑4) or level 2 functional skills.
* Some IC training and understanding of NHS systems.

* Employment package: £24,937 to £26,598 per annum (pro rata).
