What You'll Be Doing
At Mitie, we're proud to have over 5, technical services engineering colleagues delivering excellence across the UK, from the Highlands of Scotland to the tip of Cornwall. Among them, 1, Mobile Engineers are at the forefront, ensuring our clients' facilities operate smoothly and efficiently.
As an Apprentice Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Technician, you'll work alongside experienced engineers across a variety of client sites, from commercial offices to hospitals and retail environments.
No two days look the same. One day you might be installing a heat pump system, the next diagnosing a fault or carrying out essential maintenance.
You'll learn how to:
1. Interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and system specifications
2. Safely plan and prepare work, including risk assessments and selecting tools and PPE
3. Install and connect components in refrigeration and heat pump systems, including pipework and controls
4. Charge and handle refrigerants safely, minimising environmental impact
5. Test, commission, and optimise system performance
6. Carry out servicing, maintenance, leak detection, and fault finding
7. Decommission systems safely, including refrigerant recovery and disposal
8. Complete job documentation and support handovers to customers
9. Work collaboratively with other engineers and site teams
You'll be enrolled onto the Level 3 Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Technician Apprenticeship, typically completed over 36 months.

Alongside your formal training, you'll receive ongoing support from Mitie's dedicated Apprenticeship Team and your on-the-job mentor to help you grow in confidence, capability, and career ambition.
