The oncology intern position offers the candidate the opportunity to improve their experience and knowledge in the management of small animal oncology patients through working with a friendly team in this busy referral clinic. Wear Referrals has a new and rapidly growing Oncology service, and this is an exciting time to join the team. The oncology team comprises two European Specialists and a resident in medical oncology supported by a team of dedicated oncology nurses. The team and facilities are growing and evolving and a flexible approach to work is required. The internship is the ideal next step for those considering a career in oncology, and mentorship to achieve this goal will be provided. The team Wear Referrals (part of Linnaeus Veterinary Limited, owned by Mars) is a multi-disciplinary, specialist veterinary referral hospital in the North East of England, close to the historic university city of Durham, the thriving city of Newcastle, and set between the north east coast and the Pennines. The hospital is also within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and Scotland. Our hospital facilities include a dedicated ICU staffed 24 hours a day, spacious wards with walk-in kennels, in-house 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Essenza MRI, 16 slice Siemens Somatom Emotion helical CT, digital radiography, digital fluoroscopy, a Samsung RS85 ultrasound system and Arthrex / Karl Storz Laparoscopic/thoracoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems. We encourage an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, supporting a process of continuous learning and a collegiate atmosphere. We have an active internship programme and are expanding our residency programmes, with current residents in Surgery, Internal Medicine and Oncology. Our extensive clinical caseload provides an interesting variety of cases and supports ongoing clinical research that is actively encouraged and supported. Currently completing a Rotating Internship at a Referral Hospital.
