We have a fantastic opportunity for a Podiatry Assistant to join our team!
In this role, you will work alongside registered Podiatrists to deliver care to patients with complex medical needs who are at high risk of foot complications, including those with diabetes. You will support a range of clinical activities, including assisting with treatments, wound care, delegated assessments, and providing foot health advice to promote self-management.
Our service cares for adult and paediatric patients across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, delivering clinics in community settings as well as supporting specialist services such as multidisciplinary diabetic foot clinics, mental health, and offender health.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will be part of a multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to develop your skills while contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
Works as part of the Community Podiatry Team to support the delivery of care to clients in the community.
Will undertake a range of activities, having received training, and been assessed as competent (Sirona Band 3 Podiatry Assistant Competency Framework).
Will carry out extended roles in the following areas (the list is not exhaustive) once trained and competent to do so –
* Nail cut clinics/domiciliary visits
* Blood glucose monitoring
* Observations (NEWs2, ABPI’s/TPI’s)
* Wound care (non-complex) following set protocol/treatment plans
* Pressure Ulcer Prevention
* Foot screening (diabetes)
* Assist in nail surgery/nail surgery re‑dressings
* Monitoring supplies and maintaining stock levels as delegated.
* Providing support and cover for team administration duties when required
* Provide support to other clinical staff across the team when required where multiple staff are required to provide clinical care

Qualifications
* Relevant NVQ 2/3 / Apprentice qualification in Health / relevant experience if supplemented by short courses. Or willing to work towards
Skills, Knowledge, Experience
* Able to record succinct and accurate information on the patient record both in writing and electronically
* Able to communicate clearly verbal, in writing and Electronically using E‑mail
* Experience of team working.
* Able to use varying IT systems
* Experience of direct client care in a health or social care setting
