Role – Civil Supervisor
Location – Exeter
Mint Selection are partnered with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced Civil Supervisor to work on a major infrastructure project based in Exeter.
Scope of Work
• Supervise daily site activities for all civil works across a large-scale grid infrastructure project, including earthworks, drainage, foundations, ducting, access roads, reinforced concrete structures, cable trenches, fencing, and general balance of plant works.
• Coordinate and oversee site operatives and subcontractors to ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with drawings, specifications, programme requirements, and quality expectations.
• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards, site rules, permit-to-work systems, and safe systems of work.
• Support the Site Manager and Project Manager with site coordination, progress reporting, quality inspections, contractor management, and interface management across multiple work packages.
• Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions to maintain safe working practices and promote a strong safety culture on site.
• Monitor progress and workmanship to ensure all civil activities are delivered to programme and in accordance with project specifications and engineering standards.
• Complete and maintain site documentation including daily diaries, inspections, permits, quality records, ITPs, and progress updates.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and logistics teams to coordinate plant, labour, materials, and deliveries to site.
• Identify and escalate any risks, delays, design clashes, or non-conformances to the Site Manager and wider project team to minimise programme impact.
• Support interface management with electrical, commissioning, and wider construction teams to ensure smooth project delivery and alignment across disciplines.
Experience to be Considered
• Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor on grid, substation, transmission, distribution, utilities, renewables, or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of civil construction activities associated with grid infrastructure including foundations, ducting, drainage, reinforced concrete, earthworks, access roads, and cable route installation.
• Previous experience working on National Grid, DNO, substation, or HV infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous.
• Experience supervising subcontractors and multi-disciplinary site teams within fast-paced construction environments.
• Strong working knowledge of HSEQ procedures, RAMS, permit-to-work systems, temporary works, and safe systems of work.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to maintain a strong site presence and proactively drive works forward.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure project on a long-term basis.
This is a 12-month renewable contract and falls outside IR35.
