This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Estates Department as a Mechanical Engineer. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will deliver a comprehensive building services mechanical function, ensuring the effective maintenance, compliance, and performance of mechanical systems across the estate. You will also lead on the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical capital projects, managing contractors, budgets, and timelines to support strategic estate development and operational efficiency. What you’ll do Provide professional and proactive advice on mechanical engineering services, including conducting condition surveys and preparing maintenance plans to support medium-term financial forecasting. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, guidance, and best practices related to building services engineering and project management. Act as the authorised/responsible person or duty holder for mechanical services installations across the estate. Lead mechanical projects, ensuring service user and stakeholder requirements are thoroughly captured, challenged, confirmed, and documented. Contribute to feasibility studies by preparing initial design information and recommending specialist input where appropriate. Maintain and develop the estate’s mechanical asset register, ensuring it remains a comprehensive and accurate record of all mechanical assets. What you’ll bring Hold a degree in building services engineering or a related subject and be a member (or working towards membership) of a relevant mechanical professional body. Alternatively, demonstrate significant experience in building services engineering, with evidence of continuous professional development. Evidence of excellent planning and organisational skills to achieve set objectives. Ability to analyse problems and make effective decisions and resolutions. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a specialist team, providing relevant advice and guidance as needed, while also managing contractors and suppliers to ensure delivery of outcomes aligned with organisational requirements. Ability to understand and align organisational requirements from a wide range of stakeholders and effectively communicate those requirements and desired outcomes to contractors and service providers. Contract management experience. Experience in building mechanical compliance, engineering projects, and financial planning.
