Summary of Role:
Join the acclaimed Nidec Drives R&D Department as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer. Reporting to the Product Development Manager, your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and implementing power electronics and auxiliary circuits, covering component evaluation, circuit analysis and simulations, thermal and mechanical design, and PCB review with manufacturing considerations.
Key Job Responsibilities:
* Possess a solid understanding of power electronics.
* Contribute to new designs, product specifications, critical power components, and develop analogue, digital, and electronic circuits/systems.
* Implement designs meeting functional requirements and conforming to EMC and Safety standards.
* Interface with external suppliers and participate in product design reviews, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Manage and facilitate type test meetings and develop test equipment.
* Prepare technical documentation and reports, and present and justify design concepts.
* Participate in technical design reviews, providing constructive critique.
* Guide and support other Development Engineers.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Masters Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics.
* Proven engineering experience.
* Understanding of power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems.
* Experience with simulation tools (e.g., PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice, MATLAB Simulink).
* Interest in emerging technologies and innovation.
* Knowledge of planning tools and application of planning theories.
* Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
