Contract Type:Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday Friday 8:30am 5:00pm
Worker Type: Hybrid
Salary Grade G - Starting Salary is £36,363 (Level one) rising to £39,152 (Level four) ( Pay Award Pending plus a generous benefits package including a local government pension scheme, annual leave, and flexible working arrangements.
Location: Harvey Road (NG8 3BB) will be the contracted base for this role, but the postholder will be expected to be able to travel to other offices including Loxley House (NG2 3NG), as needed.

About The Role

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Building Technical Officer to join Nottingham City Council Housing Services within our Asset team. This role plays a key part in improving residents homes, with a strong focus on addressing damp and mould and managing legal disrepair works to ensure safe, healthy living environments.

You will oversee contractor performance on site, carrying out inspections, monitoring quality and progress, and ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards. Working collaboratively with our construction partners and internal teams, you will help resolve issues quickly, including customer concerns, access challenges and tenant welfare matters.

The role requires a strong commitment to compliance, ensuring all works meet relevant legislation, health and safety requirements and Council standards. You will maintain accurate project records, contribute to effective contract management, and support continuous service improvement.

What were looking for:

The ideal candidate will have:

1. Experience of undertaking property surveys, identifying defects, reporting writing and recommending appropriate remedial action

2. Thorough knowledge of methods of building construction and building maintenance principals

3. Proficiency in the use of computers for: - Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)

4. Monitor and oversee contractors and subcontractors throughout all stages of site preparation, execution and monitoring, completion and handover

5. Ability to undertake onsite inspections and surveying measurements to ensure that all works are carried out to the required standard and scope

6. Driving Licence with access to a vehicle
