Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Fire Safety Co‑ordinator to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you’ll be doing
Working as part of the HS&W Team in the position of Fire Safety Coordinator, you will provide competent advice, guidance and support to the NZT Project on all matters relating to Fire Safety Management.
The Fire Safety Coordinator plays a key role in developing, implementing, and driving fire safety strategy across the NZT Project. You’ll work closely with the HS&W Team, senior leadership, and project delivery teams to ensure compliance with current legislation, promote best practice, and drive continuous improvement in all areas of fire safety.
Who we’re looking for
* Develop and implement the Project Fire Safety Management Plan.
* Provide advice, support and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to discharge their Fire Safety roles and responsibilities.
* Participate in the regular reviews and updates of the Project Fire Safety Management Plan.
* Attend HS&W meetings and provide a specific input on Fire Safety matters.
* Undertake duties as requested by the NZT HS&W Manager / Lead.
* Maintain a visual presence on site to cast a leadership shadow and assist with coaching and mentoring of project personnel to ensure continuous improvements are made.
* Lead on fire safety across the NZT project, providing expert advice and guidance.
* Develop and maintain fire safety standards, systems, and procedures in line with legislation and best practice.
* Review fire risk assessments and audits, supporting the HS&W team in implementing improvement measures.
* Act as the main point of contact for the external local authority fire service, fire risk assessors (ATS) and ensure consistent quality and performance.
* Support the development of training programmes and competency frameworks for those involved in fire safety.
* Review fire‑related incidents, identify root causes, and implement lessons learned.
* Represent the business at national safety forums and contribute to wider industry developments.
* Maintain oversight on the third‑party emergency response provider to ensure consistent standards.
* Ensure third party emergency response provider meets their contractual obligations.
