Our client, a Subsea Services Company, are currently hiring a Design Draftsperson to join the team in Aberdeen.
Objectives / Scope
The Design Draftsperson plays a crucial role in our engineering team, contributing to the creation of detailed design drawings and technical documentation using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault.
The primary objective is to support the product development process by transforming conceptual designs into accurate, comprehensive drafts. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless translation of ideas into practical and manufacturable solutions.
Main Responsibilities
Drafting and Modelling:
• Utilize Autodesk Inventor and Vault to create 3D models and detailed 2D drawings that adhere to industry standards and company guidelines.
• Develop accurate representations of product components, assemblies, and systems.
Technical Documentation:
• Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions.
• Ensure that all drawings and documents are compliant with relevant codes and standards.
Collaboration:
• Work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to understand design requirements and specifications.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input to enhance the overall quality of designs.
Revision Control:
• Manage and update design files to reflect revisions and changes throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Maintain an organized and efficient file management system.
Quality Assurance:
• Conduct thorough reviews of own work to identify and rectify errors or discrepancies.
• Support the implementation of quality control measures within the drafting process.
Continuous Improvement:
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in design software.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness
Deadline Management:
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently to meet deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with team members to provide project status updates.
Skills base
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD and Vault.
• Knowledge of drafting standards and best practices (BS8888 etc.).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.
