Job Summary
The Environment Agency is recruiting a fixed‑term Energy Advisor, up to two years, to support the regulation of the energy sector and deliver environmental outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training.
* Develop strategy for the energy sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Defra, DESNZ, industry trade associations and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents, providing business continuity support during incident response.
Experience and Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, including experience of managing combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries and applying control measures for emissions to air where relevant.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
