Cabinet Support Officer
Location: London
Working pattern: Monday to Friday,
Duration: ongoing
Pay: £22.83 per hour PAYE
We are seeking a driven, ambitious, and politically astute Cabinet Support Officer to join the Leader’s Office in a dynamic and progressive London Local Authority. This pivotal role supports the Leader of the Council, Cabinet, The Chief Executive, and the Senior Leadership Team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing policy, research, and administrative support to Cabinet Members to enable effective delivery of priorities.
* Managing various policy areas, including social care, education, town centre improvements, and family support initiatives.
* Building strong relationships across the organisation, collaborating with service departments, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.
* Managing Cabinet Members' inboxes and diaries, handling casework, emails, and meetings efficiently.
* Conducting research, drafting briefings, and summarising information to prepare Cabinet Members.
* Coordinating Cabinet Member meetings, including agenda setting, minute-taking, action logging, and venue arrangements.
This role operates in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and clear communication are crucial to ensure the Council's goals are met for a safer, stronger, and kinder borough.
Skills and experience required:
* Proven experience in providing high-quality briefing, diary management, and administrative support to senior stakeholders.
* Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in minute-taking and action tracking.
* Excellent judgment, political awareness, and discretion.
* Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* Knowledge of local government structures and policies.
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise in a dynamic environment.

* Chief of Staff, Leader’s Office
* Cabinet Members
* The Mayor’s Office

* Community leaders and groups
You will also support Lead Members and contribute to the Leader’s Office, including attending public events and meetings outside regular hours.
