Overview
Shape the future of defence engineering at Babcock International Group. In this role you will contribute to the maintenance and support of Astute and Vanguard Class Royal Navy Submarines at the Devonport Royal Dockyard site.
Role
As an Assistant Chief Engineer, you will be at the heart of advanced engineering projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities include providing technical oversight and support to teams conducting maintenance activities on submarines during their servicing at Devonport.
* Act on behalf of the Chief Engineer, delivering technical oversight throughout the lifecycle of submarine projects.
* Serve as a Platform Technical Authority, interfacing with Design Authorities.
* Ensure design intent and functional requirements are met from work package creation through execution and acceptance.
* Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and the SDA Waterfront, Design and Project teams.
* Drive engineering improvements through participation in strategic working groups.
This position is full time (35 hours per week) and offers agile working arrangements.
Essential Experience
* Demonstrable experience in Submarine Operations, Support or Maintenance.
* Strong awareness of Mechanical and/or Electrical Systems.
* Proven understanding of technical audits and processes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to manage and mitigate technical risks effectively.
Qualifications
* Degree level education in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
* Chartered Engineer status or close to achieving this.
