Rate: £600 per day - PAYE via Umbrella Only
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly capable Security Engineer to join a focused team developing a telemetry pipeline MVP. This role requires deep technical expertise in containerised environments, observability tooling, and secure infrastructure design. The ideal candidate will ensure that security is embedded across the pipeline architecture, from deployment to data flow, while collaborating closely with DevOps and development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement security controls across containerised environments using Kubernetes and OpenShift
2. Ensure secure configuration and access management within GitLab version control and CI/CD pipelines
3. Integrate and secure telemetry tools including Cribl, Elastic, Splunk, Fluentd, and Syslog
4. Conduct threat modelling, vulnerability assessments, and risk analysis for the telemetry pipeline
5. Collaborate with DevOps engineers to embed security into infrastructure-as-code and deployment workflows
6. Monitor and respond to security events and alerts from observability platforms
7. Maintain documentation of security architecture, policies, and incident response procedures
Required Skills & Experience:
8. Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift in secure production environments
9. Proficiency in GitLab and secure CI/CD pipeline practices
10. Familiarity with telemetry and logging tools: Cribl, Elastic, Splunk, Fluentd, and Syslog
11. Deep understanding of networking protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and security principles
12. Experience with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance requirements
13. Knowledge of container security tools (e.g., Aqua, Twistlock, Trivy) and vulnerability scanners
14. Excellent analytical and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
15. Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CKS (Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist), or equivalent
16. Experience in building MVPs or working in startup-like environments
17. Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
