We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
* Lead the ECU, providing strong leadership and developing the team to deliver high-quality financial investigations in line with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Strategic responsibility for managing financial investigations and ensuring compliance with POCA obligations.
* Line management of two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; motivate, develop, and manage performance and delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC); influence senior stakeholders to align with EA priorities.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes, sharing lessons learned, contributing to technical documentation, and advising enforcement officers nationwide.
* Represent and contribute to the ECU’s part in the organisation’s approach to POCA and financial crime.
The Team
* The ECU comprises two teams – Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team – with Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts.
* The ECU is nationally dispersed and works with enforcement staff and partners across the country to tackle serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience / Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, preferably with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Strong understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in: working in law enforcement and understanding the National Intelligence Model; effective communication including giving feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders; working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload; identifying improvement opportunities and leading changes to working practices; developing and enhancing team and individual capability.

This is a hybrid role; you’ll work flexibly from home and your nearest office, with travel across the country for meetings and operational duties. Incident response is a central part of our work; you may be required to take on an incident role and be available to respond during incidents (may attract additional pay).
