This is a General Cardiology Consultant post with an option to deliver specialist activity. A specialist interest would be welcomed. Support would be given to undertaking PAs at other centres to maintain/develop specialist interests. This is an exciting time to join the Cardiology Department at HDFT. We are a highly skilled and innovative multi‑disciplinary team and this appointment will ensure that we can continue to deliver high quality patient care as well as help drive forward service developments. Our friendly, well‑established team consists of Consultants, Specialist nurses, Cardiac rehab nurses, Speciality Doctor, Cardio/Respiratory Physiologists, Heart Failure Nurses and a Lead Cardiology Nurse. We have a new Philips cath lab undertaking diagnostic angiography and pacemaker implantation. Future planning within Imaging Services includes Cardiac CT which will be developed over the next 2‑3 years. There are excellent opportunities for the post holder to develop new or existing services according to their clinical interests. Flexible/Part time working will be considered with opportunities (by negotiation) to undertake sessions at other organisations to maintain or develop skills.
Responsibilities
* Together with the other consultant cardiologist you will provide an inpatient and outpatient Cardiology service. This includes all aspects of non‑elective and outpatient treatment and related management duties.
* To conduct all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for Cardiology services.
* To support service development within the cardiology service. We are well positioned within the wider local cardiology network and work closely with Leeds, South Tees and Mid York. We also have regular visiting consultants from Leeds teaching hospitals for satellite arrhythmia clinics.
Our patients have access to a recently redeveloped and extended cardiology and respiratory department, new clinic rooms and new equipment including state‑of‑the‑art echo equipment with 3‑D and strain imaging capability. In January 2021 a new Philips Cath lab was commissioned delivering diagnostic angiography and Brady pacemaker implantation.
