As a Mechanical and Electrical Apprentice at Sodexo, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of hospital estate systems. You will be the go-to expert for technical support and maintenance across equipment, building systems, and utility services at Royal Stoke Hospital.

What You’ll Do:
* This is a multidisciplinary role in healthcare maintenance; you will be working towards Authorised/Competent person status.
* Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of plant, equipment, and systems across the hospital estate.
* Be fully trained in fault diagnosis, repair, and testing of electrical and mechanical systems.
* Carry out repairs, installations, and testing to a high standard, focusing on complex systems such as door/access controls, nurse call systems, BMS, security cameras, emergency lighting, medical gas systems, and medical devices.
* Comply with all health, safety, hygiene, and statutory regulations, including COSHH and fire safety.
* Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
* Conduct planned, preventative maintenance and calibrate testing tools.
* Assist with parts procurement and technical support.
* Manage reactive maintenance during day and night shifts.
* Use IT systems for data reporting (e.g., CAFM, BMS).
* Interpret technical documents and complete regulatory applications.
* Maintain decontamination and water safety equipment, following safety standards.
What You Bring:
* Grade A-C in English and Maths.
* Interest in the engineering industry.
* Confidence and ability to assess situations.
* Self-motivation and adaptability.
* Problem-solving skills and a logical approach.
* Calmness under pressure and understanding of urgency.
* Willingness to work overtime if required.
* Willingness to attend external and internal training courses.
* Good understanding of health and safety standards.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Computer literacy and good mathematical skills.
* Relevant maintenance/engineering experience.
* Experience in a healthcare setting.
* Self-motivation and drive.
* Knowledge relevant to healthcare environment.
* Fault-finding, problem-solving, and technical repair skills.
* Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose issues.
* Excellent time management, teamwork, and communication skills.
* Positive, initiative-taking attitude; able to work independently or as part of a team.
