Qualifications
* Full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC).
* Completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis), at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); or equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.
Responsibilities and duties
* Clinical duties may include work in the emergency department, paediatric and neonatal wards, and the care of infants in maternity wards.
* The Specialty Doctor will contribute to the out-of-hours rota (nights and weekend days) at St John’s Hospital in the resident middle grade rota (Tier 2) for paediatrics and neonatology (Level 1 unit). Shifts are 12.5 hours (day 0800 to 2030 or night 2000 to 0830).
* Out-of-hours cover is for both paediatrics and neonatology; the rota includes resident consultants, specialty doctors, a research fellow and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (neonatal and paediatric).
* Normal daytime working hours will vary but may include long days (e.g., 0800-2030).
* The post is 10 PA per week (420 PAs per year); weekly PA commitments will vary depending on clinical duties.
* Some flexibility is required to support clinical out-of-hours work.
