Job Title: Head of HR Hybrid working- 2 days per week in the head office in Birmingham,1 day per week ad hoc travel to different sites. 2 days from home. We are seeking an energetic, ambitious Head of HR to join the senior leadership team. This is a high-impact role suited to a proven HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment. The successful candidate will bring strategic vision combined with operational drive to lead and develop the people agenda across a diverse workforce. This is a significant role which will have an impact across the business but also requires someone to roll their sleeves up initially to get the HR strategy delivered effectively. This role offers the right candidate a structured career path to HR Director. Key Responsibilities include: Lead the strategic direction and execution of the HR function across all sites. Provide expert guidance on employee relations, including working effectively with trade unions and negotiating with union representatives. Collaborate with senior leaders to shape a positive, high-performing culture across both corporate and operational teams. Oversee talent management, leadership development, succession planning, and workforce planning initiatives. Ensure HR policies and practices are consistent, fair, and compliant with employment law and best practice. Act as a visible and energetic leader across the organisation, fostering strong relationships at all levels. Travel 1 day per week to sites across the UK to maintain a strong on-the-ground presence and understanding of local challenges. Experience Required: This role would suit someone who is currently a driven, ambitious senior HR business partner looking to progress their career. Or a Head of HR/HR Director who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment whilst enjoying a hands on approach. Experience likely gained from logistics/manufacturing/construction/FMCG/multisite sectors. Proven experience in complex employee relations, particularly within a unionised workforce essential. Roll sleeves up approach coupled with an ability to step back and review/add value strategically. Extensive experience in HR leadership- and roles where you have managed a minimum of 6 people. The ability to develop and nurture relationships across departments. The ability to lead the development of effective employment policies.
