ERTMS Programme Assurance Lead
Location: Leeds/Hybrid | Contract: Full-time
Recruiting on behalf of a major UK rail freight organisation
GTS Transportation is seeking an experienced Programme Assurance Lead to support a nationally significant ERTMS rollout across the UK freight network. This role will oversee all technical, safety, and regulatory assurance to ensure the programme meets required approvals and industry standards.
* Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage the programme’s assurance strategy across safety, technical, and regulatory areas.
* Ensure compliance with recognised frameworks (ESAC, 4-Stage assurance, CSM-REA, interoperability standards, NTRs/RIS).
* Lead regulatory engagement, securing key approvals such as APIS and PIU.
* Coordinate with assessment bodies and oversee production of Safety Cases, hazard records, and system assurance evidence.
* Identify and manage assurance risks and support hazard identification workshops.
* Provide leadership to internal teams, suppliers, and industry partners.
About You Essential:
* Strong background delivering assurance in complex rail systems.
* Experience with APIS/PIU approvals and ERTMS/ETCS deployment.
* Skilled in regulatory engagement (ORR, assessment bodies).
* Knowledge of CSM-REA and safety engineering processes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder skills.
