Reporting to the Director of Services, with assurance responsibilities to the Heads of Mental Health and Homelessness, the Practice Quality Lead provides leadership with operational reach, and is responsible for setting the vision for quality practice across services and ensuring its effective implementation across all levels of the organisation.
The role ensures that our services reflect sector-recognised principles of high-quality support, fostering innovation and continuous learning to improve outcomes for people using our services.
Quality Frameworks & Standards
* Develop, implement, and oversee quality frameworks tailored to our services
* Lead the development of internal quality standards rooted in sector-recognised best practice (e.g. CQC, NICE), tailored to our unregulated but high-accountability environment
* Lead on policy, procedure, and practice process development; ensure accessibility and that they remain current and relevant
* Lead on Porchlight Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) arrangements, to help improve practice, safety and quality and reduce safety incidents
* Keep abreast of developments in legislation, policy, and sector frameworks (e.g. trauma-informed care, PIE), translating these into meaningful guidance for staff and managers
* Develop tools and resources to support frontline teams and managers with embedding quality in day-to-day practice.
Quality Assurance, Auditing & Evaluation
* Oversee the planning, execution, and analysis of annual practice audits; identify improvement areas
* Design and deliver proportionate quality assurance methods, collaborating with staff and the people we support
* Monitor the effectiveness of evidence-based interventions and models; translate findings into practice and improvements, working with colleagues
* Provide periodic reports and assurance updates to senior leadership and board-level committees
* Active member of the Quality and Safety Group and Safety Panel, contributing to organisational learning, governance, and quality improvement.
Practice Leadership, Culture & Capacity Building
* Promote a strong understanding of quality practice—including safety, risk, and collaborative working—across all staff levels, from frontline workers to managers
* Carry out case reviews to support staff with risk and safeguarding oversight
* Champion a culture of safety, reflective practice, and continuous learning
* Co-produce practice initiatives and improvement projects with colleagues and the people we support
* Chair the Practice, Standards & Effectiveness Group, ensuring actions are followed through and annual objectives stay on track
* Celebrate and highlight examples of high-quality practice and improvement initiatives to support a culture of shared ownership and pride in quality
* Maintain and develop relationships with external providers to explore scenario-based, high-quality practice training.
* Ensure in-house training is responsive to the needs of frontline staff and managers and supports quality improvement across the organisation.
Safeguarding & Strategic Responsibility
* Deputise for the Safeguarding Leads (Heads of Service) as required, maintaining active awareness of safeguarding practice and contributing to a strong, safety-aware culture.
Other Duties
* Line management of the Senior Administrator for Services, ensuring administrative support aligns with quality and improvement priorities
* Line management of the Involvement Manager
* Oversee practice supervision arrangements, working closely with the Senior Administrator who will do the day-to-day administration for this
* Undertake other duties appropriate with the scope, spirit and purpose of the role.

Salary: £43,000 per annum
